Recently, one of our members was hospitalized with an urgent medical condition. Our brother reached out from his hospital bed for prayers and maybe a few visitors, and the Post 1 Family responded! Several members including our newly elected Chaplain, took the time to visit our brother for a quick chat, lunch, a cold pop, or a nice walk outside.

If any of you know of a member or any veteran who is hospitalized, is able to have visitors and would like that, please reach out. Do not reach out on social media, please call the Post phone 612/721-3023. Nothing is worse than being bored or lonely in the hospital, let's do what we can to ease that for our brothers and sisters.

Becky Nelson from Post 1 Auxiliary graciously showed me around the facility. The program includes dedicated spaces representing different cities, as well as an auditorium used for conventions. Participants also spend a day at the Minnesota State Capitol, further enriching their understanding of government in action.

The American Legion Post 1 Family installed their newly elected officers on Saturday 6/13, in a ceremony attended by over 30 members and supporters.

Post 1 was well represented at this year’s District Convention, with members from Post 1, the Sons of The American Legion (SAL), and the Auxiliary in attendance.

Amos Ferrier, Post 1 member and former Army medic, died Sunday of injuries received while thwarting a car theft in Minneapolis on Friday May 15. Amos was credited with saving many lives during his combat deployments to Afghanistan and continued giving to the Minnesota Veteran community in his role as Internship Coordinator at Every Third Saturday (ETS) in Minneapolis.

Post 1 Auxiliary held a fundraiser potluck meal on Saturday at the Wold-Chamberlain Legion. They raffled off a variety of theme baskets.

Post 1 members had a wonderful morning picking up sticks & debris at the Pioneers & Soldiers cemetery on Saturday May 9th, sprucing up in preparation for our Memorial Day Program here on the 25th.

We had a long Membership Meeting on Saturday, but we got a lot of work done. Here are some highlights

Post 1 had a big weekend, with members participating in activities all over the state. Post 1 members Mike G & Robert T. walked in the Ruck March to benefit the VA Food Pantry in Minneapolis, and Post 1 members Joan P. & Terry D graduated from American Legion College at Camp Ripley Mn.

Post 1 members Joan P. & Terry D. are set to graduate from Department of Minnesota's American Legion College at Camp Ripley Sunday April 26.

1st Vice Commander Chris Sam and 3rd Vice Commander Amy Gillette traveled to Clearwater American Legion Post 323 to visit with American Legion National Commander Dan Wiley.

Post 1 member Paul M recently celebrated a birthday!
