Amos Ferrier, Post 1 member and former Army medic, died Sunday of injuries received while thwarting a car theft in Minneapolis on Friday May 15. Amos was credited with saving many lives during his combat deployments to Afghanistan and continued giving to the Minnesota Veteran community in his role as Internship Coordinator at Every Third Saturday (ETS) in Minneapolis.
Amos shared a kindred link with Post 1, as our namesake, Theodor Perterson, was also an Army medic. Peterson was killed in France in WWI. (For more on Theodor Peterson, please see our Post History)
"Although we mourn the loss of any of our members, Amos’s passing hits especially hard as Amos provided an outstanding example of what it means to be a Legionnaire, and he brought youthful energy to our historic post. He will be greatly missed by his fellow Legionnaires." -Milt Schoen, Post 1 Commander
Amos Ferrier leaves behind 2 young sons and many friends and family. A Go Fund Me has been started to assist with his son’s education.
